Ginger Pomegranate Autophagy Tea with Italian Citrus Bergamot

I want to take a moment to share one of my favorite “health hacks” with you: autophagy tea. We’ve discussed how autophagy is your body’s housekeeping function that serves as a “fountain of youth” for your cells and why it’s critical for overall health and wellness as well as longevity. But, as we age, we need some help to jumpstart the process of autophagy. And while there are certain lifestyle factors that help induce this process, drinking autophagy tea is one of the easiest—and most delicious—ways to do this.

As we get closer to winter and the days are becoming colder, consider trading in one of your coffees or teas with my incredible Ginger Pomegranate Autophagy Tea, made with my “secret” ingredient designed to give you the most health benefits of any beverage you can make!

What Is Autophagy Tea?

Activating autophagy is one of the most important ways you can help your body functioning optimally, from enhancing your immune system and cardiac health to helping to cool inflammation and look your best at any age. And while autophagy was once an unconscious process that naturally occurred in our bodies, our modern lives are no longer conducive to this process, meaning we have to implement strategies to actively induce autophagy.

There are certain lifestyle practices that induce autophagy, such as intermittent fasting, eating a diet high in healthy fats, incorporating regular exercise, and even getting quality sleep. But in addition to these practices, you can also take certain supplements, such as citrus bergamot, resveratrol, astaxanthin, berberine, and turmeric, and even drink a delicious tea known as autophagy tea.

Personally, I’ve found that drinking autophagy tea is one of the easiest ways you can support the activation of autophagy in your cells. I love to drink it first thing in the morning because the healthy fat in the form of MCT oil helps keep me satisfied, curb cravings, and support my metabolism throughout the day. Remember, drinking autophagy tea each day is a simple way to reap the benefits of autophagy activators in a delicious tea that truly nourishes and energizes you at the cellular level.

How to Make This Ginger Pomegranate Autophagy Tea Recipe

Before we discuss how to make this autophagy tea recipe, it’s important to note that not just any tea can increase autophagy. For teas that promote autophagy, it all depends on the ingredients—and the best ingredient to include in your autophagy tea is citrus bergamot. Here’s why: Perhaps more than any other ingredient, citrus bergamot has been shown to help activate autophagy and support an autophagy diet.

Specifically, research has shown that due to its incredible concentration of polyphenols, supplementing with citrus bergamot activated certain proteins associated with the upregulation of autophagy. That’s why this recipe for Ginger Pomegranate Autophagy Tea includes NAOMI Citrus Bergamot. So, let’s take a look at how to make this easy, delicious, health-promoting tea.

Begin by boiling eight ounces of water in a kettle or small pot. Place one bag of ginger tea in a mug and pour the water over it, allowing it to steep for about five minutes. After your remove the tea bag, transfer the ginger tea into a blender or food processor and add in the contents of the citrus bergamot capsule (discarding the actual capsule), a couple of tablespoons of pomegranate juice, and a tablespoon of MCT oil as a premier source of autophagy-supporting healthy fat. I recommend adding about a quarter of a teaspoon of monk fruit powder to add a little sweetness.

Blend or pulse to combine the ingredients well and then transfer your tea back into your mug and enjoy!
