We’ve been told our entire lives, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”
What if I told you this might be the farthest thing from the truth?
Did you know back in the primal days of hunter-gatherer, there was no such thing as eating eight small meals a day. There was no ’fitness pal’ to track calories or macros.
The Ancestral routine was to hunt food all day and eat one meal at night. In fact, some days there may have been no food at all while other days may have been filled with bountiful harvests. We call this primal eating pattern “feast or famine.” Did you know that the human body is naturally programmed this way?
Something amazing happens inside this way of eating, and I’m overjoyed that finally, this secret is getting out.
Some of you may have already heard of “intermittent fasting” and the benefits it brings. This is a popular trend that is gaining big momentum in the health and fitness industry. But why and how does it work?
Let’s go a little deeper.
Intermittent fasting (simply skip breakfast and wait to eat mid-day), allows the body to go back to primal programming and signals the body to use fat stores for energy.
Another benefit? Intermittent fasting also gives your digestive system a rest. It is so important to provide the digestive system a break. It is the largest system in the human body and if we are eating eight small meals a day, our digestive system is ALWAYS working.
If our bodies are always digesting food, it doesn’t leave much room to work on anything else. It has little room to perform all of the other functions such as resting, building, repairing, restoring, and getting rid of bad cells in the body.
And this is where we’d like to introduce you to an amazing word called “autophagy.”
Autophagy is defined as “self-eating.” In other words, autophagy is the body’s own way of taking out the trash. This is where the body can do amazing work to get rid of the bad stuff and support the good — enhancing immune function and cardiac health, to decreasing your inflammation, increasing lifespan and longevity and looking your best at any age.
The trick is that autophagy can only be activated when the digestive system is turned off. Therefore, skipping breakfast might just be one of the BEST things you CAN do. (Yes, you really can do this!)
Most people love this idea, however skipping breakfast sounds a bit, well, not as fun.
That’s why I created AutophaTea, one of the easiest ways you can support the activation of autophagy in your cells and keep you satiated to lunch. AutophaTea is a special blend of anti-inflammatory boosting herbs to help support cravings, metabolism and energy, and intermittent fasting.
Take the overwhelm out of reclaiming your health and incorporate small ways you can upgrade your routine and activate more autophagy on a daily basis. Make your first simple switch right now by drinking AutophaTea. I recommend two to four cups each day.
