GOODFATS: Pecan Pie Smoothie
Pecans offer the perfect flavor mixture of buttery and nutty. Classic pecan pie is decadent, but it contains more sugar than the body should consume in a week! With this recipe, I sought to capture the taste and essence of traditional pecan pie without all the toxic sugar.
This smoothie is a perfect way to enjoy the plethora of healthy nutrients in pecans such as monounsaturated and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as B-vitamins, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and copper.
If you prefer a roasted taste, it’s best to purchase raw pecans and lightly toast them at home, as opposed to the store-bought variety. Not only are nuts easily oxidized, but when they are also commercially roasted, they have likely been exposed to high heat and rancid oils.
Hearty pecans, slightly sweet Vanilla Creamer, creamy macadamia nut butter, and warm cinnamon make this simple smoothie recipe as delicious and comforting as pecan pie.
