DIY Face Wash Ingredients for All Skin Types

With so many options on the market, you may be curious to know if a homemade face wash better than purchasing a ready-made product. One of my favorite things about making a DIY face wash is that it’s not only cost effective but also completely customizable to your skin type. Plus, by using whole food ingredients in your all-natural face wash, you can avoid the chemicals and harsh ingredients in certain products known to penetrate your skin and even enter your bloodstream!

If you’re wondering how you can make your own face wash, I have just the answer for you: My DIY Face Wash for Glowing Skin was created with all skin types in mind. As a result, making face wash at home just became easier, even if you have dry skin or oily skin! But there’s more: This is a great homemade face wash for combination skin, too!

So, how does this homemade face wash work for all skin types? It all comes down to the straightforward yet powerful ingredients: strawberries, sweet almond oil, and apple cider vinegar.

First, strawberries are a rich source of vitamin C, making them a powerful source of antioxidants. As a result, they’re known to help cool inflammation and even help protect the skin from UV-induced damage. Additionally, because they contain alpha-hydroxylic acid, strawberries can act as an astringent when applied topically, making them not only a great facial cleanser but also an ideal ingredient in a homemade face wash for oily skin.

You may be surprised to learn that almond oil is commonly used in many skin care formulations for its moisturizing properties. Interestingly, it’s also an emollient and as opposed to adding moisture as many face lotions do, almond oil instead supports the skins barrier function. As a result, almond oil promotes the skin’s moisture retention, making it a great way to avoid dry and chapped skin and an absolute must-have ingredient in any face wash for dry skin.

Almond oil is also known to be a great source of vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps to cool inflammation—especially inflammation stemming from UV exposure. In fact, vitamin E is commonly used topically for help prevent skin swelling and thickness along with swelling, the latter of which is why it’s often featured in under eye creams. Additionally, vitamin E is known to help calm redness, making almond oil a fantastic ingredient in any face wash for sensitive skin.

Finally, the apple cider vinegar in this recipe makes it a great homemade face wash for acne. Research has shown that apple cider vinegar was effective against certain strains of bacteria, which means it could help fight the bacteria that lead to breakouts! Plus, it’s known to help balance pH levels when used topically.

Now that you know why this DIY face wash works for all skin types, let’s take a look at how to make it.

How to Make a Homemade Face Wash

To make this homemade face wash for glowing skin, simply put one-quarter cup of freeze-dried strawberries in a high-speed blender or food processor and pulse into a powder.

Once you transfer the strawberry powder into a small bowl, add a couple of tablespoons of sweet almond oil and three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and stir well.

How to Use

Once the DIY face wash is made, store it in an airtight container. When you’re ready to use it, simply apply a small amount to your face and neck and massage it into your skin in a circular motion. Afterward, rinse your skin well and pat dry.

You can follow with your favorite moisturizer and/or serum. How simple is that?!
